Wandering the in-Betweens

Science Centre’s outdoor kinetic garden finds itself lacking in three key areas: Cohesion, impact, and curiosity.

While having accomplished the goal of creating an enjoyable experience with their indoor experience, the transition from the indoors to the outdoors is weak and unclear. Thus, outdoor exhibits feel 'optional' with little reason or visual draw that would give visitors incentive to walk in or explore the space further with their children, especially after a long day indoors.

Opportunity Statement

As such, this project seeks to redesign the transition points between the indoors and outdoors, allowing visitors to equally explore zones throughout the day while creating intrigue and a desire to travel between these two spaces and explore them equally while improving on the overall visual impact.

TRAILBLAZER

An outdoor installation designed through rhythmic curved forms and reflective surfaces, the structures gently lead guests along a new path of discovery.

This enhances spatial clarity, strengthens visual cohesion,
and rekindles the sense of curiosity that often fades after visitors leave the main exhibitions.
